Lighting of Concord is Friday

The annual Lighting of Concord will ring in the start of local Christmas celebrations as it starts at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. Santa Claus will arrive to visit with children of all ages starting at 6 p.m.

“Held in the R.F. Strickland Building and along Main Street, this is a one-of-a-kind family gathering. The Lighting of Concord features family, food, live music and a visit with the jolly ole man himself and draws local folks and those from neighboring counties,” said city clerk Anita Neath. “The city of Concord invites you to the annual Lighting of Concord.”

There will be live entertainment and a Christmas bazaar inside the Strickland building. Families can gather around the fireboxes downtown as they await the arrival of Santa and enjoy time together.
“Gather around crackling fireboxes with friends old and new, shop for that special someone at the Christmas bazaar or RF Strickland Company Mercantile, enjoy pony rides for the children or eat tasty treats along Main Street,” said Neath. “And don’t forget to sing along with live entertainment!”
