Lighting of Concord is Friday

The Lighting of Concord is set for Friday, Dec. 4 with food, live music, hay rides and fun for the whole family starting at 5 p.m. with Santa arriving at 6:15 p.m. ’Pike County Arts Council Junior Players will perform in the gazebo while everyone awaits the guest of honor. Gather around crackling fireboxes with friends old and new or snuggle up for a hay ride,’ said organizer Anita Neath. ‘Visit our Christmas Bazaar and find special gifts for your someone special.’ Santa will arrive at 6:15 p.m. and kids of all ages will visit him in the Strickland Building. A photographer will be on site. The Pike County Elementary School Chorus, comprised of fourth and fifth graders, will perform in the gazebo after Santa arrives. Concord Cafe will offer menu items from the grill from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Christmas confections will be available at the Christmas Bazaar in the Strickland Building. Vendors will offer Christmas collectibles, Younique makeup, tasty sweet treats and hot drinks. Pike County Sheriff’s Office deputies will be on site for traffic and safety control. ’We are hoping for perfect weather so we can all enjoy gathering around visiting with family and friends,’ said Neath.
