Lighting of Concord starts Friday at 5

The Christmas season will come alive in downtown Concord Friday, Dec. 5 during the Lighting of Concord festivities. Events begin at 5 p.m. with Santa arriving at 6 p.m. ’While awaiting the special guest of honor, gather around crackling fireboxes with friends old and new, snuggle up for a hay ride or visit our Christmas Bazaar to pick up those last minute Christmas gifts,’ said Concord city clerk Sharon Casey. ‘ Sing along to Christmas carols as we light the Big Tree.’ The Pike County Arts Council Junior Players will perform from 5 to 6 p.m. during the Lighting of Concord. Children of all ages are invited to visit with Santa, but there will be a $1 per child charge to see Santa this year. Those interested are asked to register at the Information Booth to make an appointment to see Santa. Santa’s photographer will be on site this year. Concord Café and Kenny’s Sauces will be offering limited menus for the evening. Â
