Lions Club donates to Touchdown Club

Members of the Lions Club recently donated $5,070 in proceeds from the Pirates football programs sponsored and sold by the Lions Club during the 2019 season to the Touchdown Club. ’We are very thankful for this donation and it will go to good use for our football program in 2021,’ said Touchdown Club president Eric McLeRoy. ‘The football team is getting new helmets and this will be a big part of that purchase. The coach is very adamant that the kids be safe, especially after what happened to Dylan. They will be getting the very same helmet used in the NFL and it’s the best helmet money can buy. We are very grateful and thankful to the Lions Club for their support.’ Charles Bentley noted that the Lions Club started producing the Pirates program in 1976 and have sold ads, included information on the team and even sold them at games in the years since. ’In addition to the football program, the Lions Club provides glasses for local individuals who qualify and we contribute to the Georgia Lions Lighthouse and the Georgia Lions Camp which provides hearing aids, glasses and eye surgeries for those in need,’ said Fletcher Dunn. Anyone interested in being a member of the Pike County Lions Club can speak to any Lions Club member about it. The Lions Club meets the first and third Monday night of each month at 7 p.m. at the Lions Club Depot in Zebulon. Find out more at the Pike County Georgia Lions Club Facebook page.
