Local attorney honored for 60 years of legal work

In 60 years of legal work, Thomas Morton has represented thousands of clients in 49 states and overseas. His son Rob Morton shared some of his father’s greatest accomplishments before he was presented with a plaque to commemorate his work Friday, Dec. 11.Tom Morton negotiated a contract between the U.S. and French and Arab governments to establish an air base in French Morocco, became an expert in product liability and eminent domain cases as an attorney for Firestone Tire and Rubber and became an expert in aviation cases and prepared the U.S. Aviation Insurance Company’s claims and litigation manual. ’He’s had the opportunity to handle legal matters abroad, internationally and in almost every state,’ said Rob Morton. ‘My foot is bigger than his but there’s no way I can ever fill his shoes.’
