As thousands of volunteers and workers head to the Gulf of Mexico to clean up the worst oil spill in history, two paramedics from Pike County left Thursday, July 15 for New Orleans to provide medical support.Chemicals and vapors, both from the oil and the dispersants used to clean it up can pose serious health risks for the workers as can spending long days unprotected from the heat. Mid Georgia Ambulance paramedics BJ Jenkins and Jason Montgomery will provide care along the coast of Louisiana in case of medical emergencies.
