Locals place at Winterguard International

Four performers from Pike competed in Chattanooga, TN in the Southern Association for Performance Arts (SAPA) National Championships and in Dayton Ohio at Winterguard International (WGI). They made it to the WGI finals and placed 20th in the world. Bree Perry, Baylynn Merritt, Thomas Wimbush, and Abi Turner competed for Reverie independent while Keri Ann Floyd (not pictured) competed with Phoenix. For the world competition, they scored 85.14 in prelims and 85.06 in semi finals. Both teams are independent Winterguard programs with Reverie of Marrietta and Phoenix of Conyers. Reverie finished third in the Independent A while Phoenix finished second in Independent Regional A. The Reverie team traveled to Dayton, Ohio to compete in the WGI World championship, after earning their spot as the 17th ranked team in the world. The championships started with 70 groups and they made it to the finals. All of Pike’s competitors went through the PCHS Winterguard and marching band programs. This year, Thomas and Bree competed as independents since the high school dropped the Winterguard program.
