Concord Garden Club will host the annual Lunch and Learn program from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 21 at the Strickland Store in Concord. The program is free and everyone is invited to bring a lunch as they listen to Wayne Gardner, a professor of entomology at the UGA experiment station. ’We are going to be talking about bugs and pollinators and how they work for and against the garden,’ said Concord Garden Club president Martha Boswell. The event will begin at 11 a.m. with vendors providing plants for sell, showing how to use recycled items for gardens and much more. The special guest will begin speaking around noon. ’The Lunch and Learn is a program designed for people on their lunch breaks,’ said Boswell. ‘It’s a short program but it’s a wonderful opportunity for people in the area to learn more about gardening and more about our environment.’The Concord Garden Club meets monthly from September through May and members can take part in many programs and field trips throughout the year. They recently held a program on garden to table food, learning what to plant and how to cook it before taking part in a tasty meal. Members went on a trip to visit Gibb’s Garden in Ball Ground, Georgia. Members are also supporters of Pick Up Pike and helping to control litter in the county. For more, call 770-884-5789.
