Man faces eight charges in Highway 19 shooting

Pike County Sheriffs deputies responded to a report of shots fired at a vehicle on Highway 19 around 5 p.m. Nov. 17. According to a press release, the victims noticed a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina driving recklessly along Highway 109 and turning southbound on Highway 19. The victims say the driver of the vehicle drove up next to their vehicle and fired a handgun at them. A deputy located the suspect’s vehicle, a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina at the Rock Store on Highway 19. The driver, Edward Deloach III, 47, was under the influence of alcohol and two handguns were recovered from his car. A .380 handgun is believed to be the weapon described by the victims as the one used by him to shoot at the victims. Deloach is charged with three counts of aggravated assault, driving under the influence of alcohol, open container, discharging a firearm while intoxicated, discharging a firearm on a roadway and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime. Deloach has a criminal history consisting of prior driving under the influence and carrying a concealed weapon. He is being held in the Pike County Jail.
