Mrs. Margaret Story Pilkenton, age 97, of Molena, passed away May 15, 2022. She was born in Concord, GA, daughter of the late Houston Story and Annie Lou Morgan Story. Mrs. Margaret was a homemaker who loved music, singing, sewing, and cooking. She often sang at weddings and other events. She joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church in 1954, when she married Jack. Mrs. Margaret was active in her church as choir director for 67 years, planning and cooking the Wednesday evening meals for many years. She was also active in her community as a member of the Pike County Arts Council and the Molena Civic Club. She had a servant’s heart and was always busy helping others. She loved cooking and baking for her family, friends and neighbors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack William Pilkenton, sister, Elaine Sharpe and brother, Dinsley “Dink” Story.
She is survived by her children: Bill Pilkenton (Tina) of Molena, Clenda Watkins of Molena and Johnny Pilkenton (Mary-Anne) of Macon; grandchildren: Marc Pilkenton (Victoria), Michelle Ward (Steven), Nelle Gooden (Kyle), Chris Watkins (Shannon), Jesse Pilkenton (Gracie) and Ashley Pilkenton; brother: Charles “Sonny” Story (Joanne) of Zebulon; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, May 19, at 2 p.m., at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1177 Hwy. 109, Molena. Pastor Mark Harris will officiate.
Friends may visit the family after the service in the fellowship hall.
A burial for immediate family only will be held in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Building Fund, 1177 Hwy. 109, Molena, GA 30258, in memory of Mrs. Margaret.
