Mayors, council up for re-election; qualify in August

The cities of Zebulon, Williamson and Molena will hold general elections Nov. 7 to elect the mayor of each city as well as council members in Zebulon and Williamson.

ZEBULON

Zebulon voters will elect a mayor (currently Joe Walter), District 1 Council Post 1 member (currently Claude Hollis) and District 2, Council Post 3 member (currently Dewey Yarbrough) with the qualifying fee for mayor at $100 and the qualifying fee for council members at $35.
Interested Zebulon residents must qualify in person at Zebulon City Hall at 7818 Highway 19 south in Zebulon from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 21 until Aug. 23.

WILLIAMSON

Williamson voters will elect a mayor (currently Steve Fry), the Council Post 1 member (currently Stephen Levin), the Council Post 4 member (currently Carol Berry) and the Council Post 5 member (currently Steve Davis). The qualifying fee for mayor is $35 and the qualifying fee for council is $25.
Williamson residents interested in running for office must qualify in person from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 21 through Aug. 23. at Williamson City Hall at 71 Midland Street in Williamson.

MOLENA

Molena voters will elect a mayor (currently Joyce Corley) but no council members this year. The qualifying fee for mayor is $72 and $36 for council members. Molena residents interested running for mayor must qualify in person from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 21 through Aug. 23. at Molena City Hall, 10 Springs Road in Molena.

The last day to register to vote or change address is Oct. 10, 2023.
