Meansville may join county fire dept.

At Monday’s Meansville city council, members voted to authorize the county manager to draft an intergovernmental agreement with the county fire department following a lengthy executive session. At the January meeting, interim fire chief Randy Snyder, two commissioners and county manager Bill Sawyer approached the council asking them to join the county’s fire services. Meansville fire department deputy chief Ron Snowden spoke in favor of joining the county, saying that the city would not lose its charter by joining the county and that the contract agreement would prevent the county from removing Meansville’s fire equipment.
