Memorial Day remembrance moved indoors to courthouse

Due to rain, the Memorial Day service will be moved to the Pike County courthouse. It will start at 11 a.m. Pike Post #197 of The American Legion will host the event. Speakers include Rep. Billy Maddox; Teresa L. Rutledge, president and founder of the Fallen Hero’s Family Foundation, Inc.; pastor Fred Fowler; and Pike Post #197-Post commander Don Bailey. Military static display items such as military vehicles, apparel, photographs and uniforms may be displayed in the courthouse. The wreath-laying ceremony will be held outside at the Veterans’ Memorial on the courthouse lawn shortly after the hour-long ceremony.
