Skeletal remains thought to be that of a Marine veteran missing from Henry County since May have been found in Upson County.Sheriff Dan Kilgore reported a 2015 Toyota Tundra truck belonging to 81-year-old Bertrand Brown of Locust Grove was found Aug. 31 in a heavily wooded area off Goshen Road near Woodland Highway. The truck was found by an individual scouting deer hunting property. The truck was located more than a mile off the public highway.Brown’s last cell phone activity was noted at a cell tower off Gordon School Road in Upson County. Several ground, K-9 and helicopter searches were conducted earlier in the vicinity of the cell tower to no avail.Skeletal remains thought to be those of Brown were found near the truck along with personal property belonging to the missing man.GBI agents were called in to assist but foul play is not suspected. The remains were transported to the state crime lab for analysis and positive identification, sheriff Kilgore concluded.
