The Pike County MLK Jr. Day committee will hold the annual parade Jan. 19 with Patricia Beckham serving as the Grand Marshal. The theme for this year’s parade and program at Mt. Hope Baptist Church is ‘Are You Still Dreaming or Are You Fulfilling the Dream?’ The parade is scheduled to leave the parking lot of Fullers Chapel United Methodist Church on Highway 19 at 10 a.m. ’The Pike County MLK Jr. Day committee is requesting the presence of all citizens of Pike County and neighboring counties to celebrate the 2014 MLK Day with them,’ said Regina Bridges. ‘We are encouraging all churches, businesses and civic organizations to join us in this celebration.’There is no fee to enter the parade and participants are asked to be lined up and ready to leave no later than 9:45 a.m.The annual MLK program will follow directly after the parade at the Mt Hope Baptist Church. Rev. Quinton Baker of New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Concord will be the guest speaker.
