Molena qualifying set for Aug. 29-31

Qualifying for mayoral and council member seats in Meansville and Molena ended last week. Molena will hold qualifying again for the Post 5 council seat Aug. 29 through Aug. 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with lunch from noon to 1 p.m. at Molena City Hall.In Molena, Jennifer Riggins qualified for the mayor’s seat, Joyce Corley qualified for Post 3, Glenn Beckham qualified for Post 4 but no one qualified for Post 5. The city of Meansville will not have to hold a general election in November for the mayor and two council seats since the incumbents for each positions qualified unopposed. Meansville held qualifying Tuesday, Aug. 16 through Thursday, Aug. 18, with Gayle Burden qualifying for mayor, Sandy Mitchell qualifying for Post 3 and Melvin Colquitt qualifying for Post 4.
