Molena to host first Bigfoot Festival Nov. 12

Molena will host the first ever Bigfoot Festival and Elkin’s Creek 5K and one-mile walk Saturday, Nov. 12 with events and entertainment throughout the day. The Elkin’s Creek 5K will kick off the day with check in starting at 8:30 a.m. and the race will start at 9 a.m. The one-mile walk to Elkin’s Creek bridge will begin at 10 a.m. with selfies at the the bridge sign with Bigfoot. 

The event will include festival foods, vendors and live music featuring the Soggy Broccoli Boys and other local musicians. 

Hear first hand from former Pike County Sheriff’s Office deputy James P. Akin as he gives a presentation and signs his book ‘Elkins Creek’ from 2 to 5 p.m. with four other authors and 14 speakers included in the event as well. 

Local residents and visitors from across the nation can document their personal Bigfoot encounters starting at 11 a.m. in the city’s Bigfoot Encounter book, by recording their explanation on video or by typing it at the Bigfoot Encounter kiosk. 

A campfire with storytellers will start around 5:40 p.m. and the final search for Bigfoot will end as the festival wraps up at 8 p.m.
