Mother-daughter duo open dance studio

We are so excited to announce to Pike County and surrounding areas that we will be opening a dance studio in Zebulon – the Pike County Dance Academy at 166 Industrial Drive. The studio founders are a mother and daughter duo of Amber Mays and Stokley Morgan. Amber and Stokley both started dancing as toddlers and both are currently dance teachers at an Atlanta studio where they teach a variety of classes and choreography, both at recreational and competitive levels.

Amber and Stokley will be teaming up with local professional dancers, teacher and choreographers to bring strong technique, skills and fun for dancers of all ages in the community.

Amber has performed competitively including in the Universal Dance Association’s National Championship which feature high school and collegiate students and was broadcast on ESPN. One of her fondest dance memories was performing as a Classy Cat for Kansas State University but her pride and joy has been raising her and her husband Brad Mays’ four children, Brantly, Ethan, Donte and Stokley.

Stokley is a professional dancer in the Atlanta area who grew up competing in the elite level of competition. She is a current member of BurlapSakk Professional Dance Company and has danced in numerous professional shows in both the Atlanta and Los Angeles areas. After high school, she became a member of Profectus Professional Dance Company, while she remained a teacher at her home studio that she had been with since age 4. Though she truly enjoys performing on the stage to this day, Stokley found that she loved teaching dancers and seeing her imagination come to life on the stage through others.

Starting this summer, Pike County Dance Academy LLC (PCDA) will be hosting a variety of camps and Thursday classes. In the fall, daily classes will be available for dancers 1.5 years old and older.

PCDA truly believes that dance is for everyone at any life stage. They will have dance classes for toddlers and their adult partner, school aged children, adult dance classes and silver dancers for active, more mature adults. These dancers will perform at two recitals each year and will also perform at other local events in the future. At PCDA, we will offer a variety of dance classes for all skill levels and abilities. We will offer classes in ballet, tap, jazz, technique, lyrical, contemporary, musical theatre, hip hop and much more!

We are building a legacy for Pike County that will grow and thrive based on the needs of the dancers in the community.
