Multiple gunshots killed Burousas

Pike County murder victim Jimmie Burousas Jr. died from gunshot wounds to his head and torso, according to his official death certificate. The certificate lists his death as a homicide and states he was “shot by other(s).” Burousas, 60, was found murdered outside his Concord home at 560 Caldwell Bridge Rd. on July 1. Sheriff’s deputies found him dead inside his vehicle in the driveway of the secluded, rural home. Officers also discovered his wife, Teresa Mangham Burousas, in the yard at the other end of the lengthy driveway. Mrs. Burousas told officers she had been attacked and, acting on her information, police issued a lookout for two male suspects who may have left the Burousas property in a Pontiac Trans Am. She was airlifted to Grady Hospital in Atlanta, but she was released just hours later. No arrests have been reported in the slaying. Officials with the sheriff’s department say that despite rumors, they have not identified any other suspects other than the two males described in the lookout. Burousas was the son of former Lamar County chief magistrate Jimmie Burousas Sr. Mrs. Burousas is the daughter of Pike County commission chairman Doug Mangham.
