The Pike County Bicentennial Celebration Committee discussed upcoming events at their recent meeting and added a new event to the calendar of celebrations for the historic 200th year of the county. Christ Chapel Community Church will help the county host a special Pike Pride Independence Day celebration on Sunday, June 26 including a large fireworks display and a t-shirt collaboration that features the Christ Chapel event and the Bicentennial Logo.
Other upcoming events to celebrate the county’s Bicentennial include the Juneteenth Celebration on Sunday, June 19 which will be held on the courthouse square with a parade at 1 p.m. from Fuller Chapel. Organizers hope to have a horse drawn stagecoach for the parade and future bicentennial events. A DJ and festivities will be held on the courthouse lawn following the parade from 3 to 6 p.m. and several bicentennial collectible items will be for sale at the event.
