Sgt. Allen Goldston and deputy Chuck Hutto are somebody’s heroes. Saturday, April 14 at around 12:18 a.m., the Pike County sheriff’s office received a medical call on Highway 19 south about an unresponsive person. Goldston and Hutto arrived to find a person lying on the floor not breathing and without a pulse. The deputies started administering CPR for five to seven minutes while awaiting medical units. When the ambulance arrived, the person was breathing and had a pulse. Mid Georgia Ambulance continued providing medical treatment and transported the patient to Upson Regional Medical Center. A full recovery is expected due to the dedication of the two Pike County deputies. ”If our officers aren’t on another call, we’ll respond to a medical call to assist the ambulance service,” said sheriff Jimmy Thomas. “These success stories in reviving citizens are rare. I think the deputies being part of that is a great thing.”The name of the patient is being withheld due to medical privacy regulations.
