Pike County High School students earned many medals for outstanding performances at this year’s Literary Competition at Jackson High School in March. The team won first place in the region competition and earned second place at the state competition. Warren Snell won first place in boys essay. Caroline Gray won second place in girls essay and first place in extemporaneous speaking. She went on to state competition and won first place in extemporaneous speaking there as well. In boys’ extemporaneous speaking, Stephen Brentlinger earned first place and second place in dramatic interpretation. Jolee Sumner earned second place in dramatic interpretation. First place in the ladies trio competition went to Sylvia Ware, Shannon Baskin and Olivia White.First place in the quartet competition went to Parker Powers, Justin Kempson, Darrin Walker and Ben Goude. Sylvia Ware won first place in ladies solo. Kempson earned second place in boys solo and competed in the state competition.
