PCHS softball earns two wins, celebrates seniors

The Lady Pirates added two wins to their overall record last week with wins over Whitewater during Senior Night and on the road over Jones County. The team is 11-8-2 for the season.

After senior night celebrations Sept. 18, the team battled the Whitewater Lady Wildcats and pulled out a 3-2 victory over the non-region team. Kerrah ‘KK’ Foster earned the win for the home team, giving up eight hits and three runs over seven innings and striking out seven while walking three. Aubree Reese led the team with two runs batted in and she and Austin King each had two hits.

The Lady Pirates earned another close victory over the Jones County Greyhounds Sept. 19 as they fought for a 12-11 win. Austin King hit two homeruns and drove in five runs. She hit homeruns in the first and fifth innings. The Pike players had 15 hits in the game as their offense was on fire. Haislynn Cromer earned the win, surrendering 13 hits and 11 runs (nine earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking seven. Offensively, Kerrah Foster, Katelyn Skinner, Marissa Hanson, Austin King and Aubree Reese each had two hits.

The Lady Pirates lost a close 2-0 region game to the Mary Persons Red Devils. Both teams were strong in the circle but Mary Persons earned the win. Kerrah Foster, Linzie Davis, Avery Maddock and Aubree Reese each had one hit for the team.

The Pirates played region foes Mary Persons in a double header after the Journal Reporter’s press deadline Monday, Sept. 25. They also played Upson-Lee at home Sept. 26 at 6 p.m.

The Lady Pirates will host Mary Persons again on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. and will travel to play Peach County on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
