The Pike County High School Wrestling team won their third consecutive Traditional Area Championship Saturday, Feb. 4 at Upson-Lee. All 14 wrestlers qualified for sectionals.
Placing fourth were Zane Bristol and Hudson Bird. Placing third was Cayden Hinson. Area Runner-ups included Jack Bell, Jordan Thompson, Ryley Gordon, Jack Barron and Andrew Hood. Area champions were Ayden Stanley, Luke Woerner, Gage Lee, Owen Hammett, Jakilen King and Luke Moon.
The team will now compete in the Traditional Sectionals which will be a 16 man bracket on Feb. 11 at Upson-Lee. The top six from sectionals advance on to the State Meet in Macon Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17 and 18. In a traditional tournament, individuals advance through a bracket, scoring team points along the way with a win, how they win and placement.
