PCHS wrestlers are 2-AAA champs for second year

The Pike County High School Pirates wrestling team recently became Area 2-AAA champions for the second straight year. After a bye the first round, the team defeated Jackson 48-30 and then defeated Mary Persons in the finals 60-24.

“This makes two years in a row that this team has accomplished the Area Dual Championship win streak. We were runner-up the year before. If you know one of these athletes, congratulate them for a job well done. A lot of hard work goes in to this,” said Clay Woerner.

The team will host Adairsville, Cohulla Creek and Hart County this Saturday in the Dual Sectionals. The number one team from sectionals will advance to the state for an eight-team Dual State meet.

The Dual Sectional meet Saturday will start at 10 a.m. at the high school gym.
