Pet oxygen masks donated to Pike

Beloved pets overcome by smoke during fires now stand a better chance of survival in Pike County.Friends of Pike County Animals donated four sets of pet oxygen masks to the county on Wednesday, Sept. 9.’This will certainly save pet lives,’ fire chief Danny Henderson said of the gift.’This will definitely increase the capabilities to save animal lives,’ said Don Bailey, chairman of FPCA.Until now, firefighters in Pike had to improvise when faced with a pet overcome by smoke. Dixie cups or human oxygen masks have been pressed into hurried service in attempts to resuscitate pets.’We improvise with whatever we have,’ Henderson said.
