Pike County Middle School wrestlers earn championship

The Pike County Middle School wrestling team placed first in the Regional Championships Friday, Jan. 13 at Upson-Lee Middle School. In the first round, they wrestled Monroe County Middle School. They won 61-43. They then went on to wrestle Upson-Lee for first place and won again 55-41. 

“At the beginning of the season, the team made a goal to win the championship,” said coach Jeff Patrie. “The matches were tough and the night was tense, but through hard work and determination they succeeded. Each wrestler worked extremely hard to do their best each and every day, even practicing during Christmas break. Most of the wrestlers won most matches, but there were three wrestlers who went undefeated the entire season – Johnson Anderson, Joseph Patrie and Gage Stanley.” 

Middle school wrestlers on the championship team include Hunter Holmes, Trenton Dorrough, Kade Michel, Gage Stanley, Landyn Hinson, Maddoxx Parks, Kaleb Garner, Noah Hartley, Clayton Womble, Ike Bruce, Karter Manley, Dalton Storm, Chris Peters, Jaxon Chandler, Alena Bailey, Ethan Hartley, Daniel Rampy, Hunter Neloms, Aden Blount, Maddox Storm, Jesse Garner, Jagger Chandler, Fisher Elzey, Summit Evans, Joseph Patrie, Jerry Barber, Axton Norton, Gabe Holland, Jes Adams, Johnson Anderson, Tyler Kozlowski, Noah Cash, AJ Paparlardo and Ryan McSwiggan.
