Pike says ‘yes’ to SPLOST

Pike County voters approved the SPLOST referendum Tuesday. The vote was not as close as expected. With all precincts reporting, the final tally was: TOTAL: 1155 – YES votes 740 – NO votes Voting by precinct ran as follows: Zebulon – 175 votes 57.14% YES 42.86% NO Williamson – 129 votes 59.69% – YES 40.31% – NO Concord – 144 votes 69.44% – YES 30.56% – NO Molena – 144 votes 65.28% – YES 34.72% – NO Second district – 168 votes 60.71% – YES 39.29% – NO Hollonville – 176 votes 57.39% – YES 42.61% – NO Lifsey Springs – 112 votes 50.89% – YES 49.11% – NO Meansville – 148 votes 56.76% – YES 43.24% – NO Absentee in person – 600 votes 62.83% YES 37.17% NO Absentee by mail – 99 votes 63.64 – YES 36.36 – NO Pike County voters who have not taken advantage of early voting headed to the polls today to cast their vote on whether or not to have a new SPLOST. Six hundred and three voters cast their vote early and around 100 voted by absentee ballot. The machine recorded votes and the paper ballots will be counted tonight in the courtroom.
