Pike sends 9 teams to state; two ranked first in nation

Pike County All Star teams competed at the state level over the weekend with a total of eight baseball teams taking part in the baseball championship series in Covington and one team competing at the softball championships in Lawrenceville.

There are more than 100 baseball teams in the region who played in the Sub-State tournaments and the teams who won first or second place advanced to the state tournament. “For the baseball program this year, every age division won their way into the state tournament, including 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U. That is a first for our recreation department. Also, big shout out to the 8U All Stars for advancing to state. As the rec. board chair, I love to see how all their success positively impacts our community,” said Chris Childress.

Teams who advanced to play at state championship tournaments include the baseball 6UA and 6UB All Stars, the 8UA and 8UB All Stars, the 10UA and 10UB All Stars, the 12UA All Stars and the 14U All Stars as well as the 8U softball All Stars.
