Pike tornado watch lifted

It was announced around 11 a.m. Wednesday that Pike County was under a tornado watch until 7 p.m. Around 7 p.m. the forecast was 75% chance of thunderstorms with no tornado watch. A tornado watch is issued when meteorologists determine weather conditions are conducive for a tornado to form. A tornado warning is only issued when the severe weather is actually occurring and there is significant risk of a tornado forming.
