Pike’s happy for Hunter

By Greg Parrott The San Francisco Giants are just one win away from capturing the 2014 World Series title. Pike’s own Hunter Strickland has seen time on the hill several times and has contributed to the Giants’ success thus far. Strickland is the only former Pirates player who has played in the World Series. In his first game, he struck out two in the ninth inning and got a ground out to end the game with the Giants winning 7-1. In his last outing, he closed the game in an 11-4 win. He struck out two, had a flyout and gave up one hit. The last two games will be in Kansas City as the Giants have a 3-2 lead in the series. Strickland graduated from Pike County High School in 2007. He was drafted right out of high school by the Red Sox.
