Pirate Regiment earns Silver Division Championship

The Pike County Pirate Regiment earned the Silver Division Championship (Class A and AA) at the Old South Marching Band competition.

The Pirate Regiment was the best of 10 bands to perform in their division and the band also earned multiple other recognitions, including Superior Drum Major, Excellent Color Guard, Superior Percussion and Superior Overall Band.

“It’s been nine years since an award of this magnitude was won by the Regiment. This is a very special group of seniors and of leadership, that was supported by hard work from all of the students. Everyone grew as a performer, and, best of all, they all grew as young adults, too,” said director of bands Lee Ewing. “We chant ‘Pride’ as a group and I am definitely full of it!”

The Pirate Regiment also received placement awards for Best in Class Drum Major, Second in Class Color Guard, Second in Class Percussion and Best in Class Band.

“Way to go Pirates! A special thank you to Lee Ewing, our band director, for all of your dedication to our kids,” said Talena Smith, parent of band senior Kadence Smith.
