Pirates pick up region win; shoot for more

The Pike County Pirates basketball team traveled to Forsyth Thursday night and left with a 60-57 win to improve their record to 4-5 overall and 1-0 Region 2-AAA.

The Pirates were led by the trio of Yadiel Rosado (with 20 points), Nazarious McDowell (with 16 points) and Tyson Trawick (with 13 points).

The Pirates were back in action on Tuesday evening as they traveled to Fort Valley, looking to even their record at 5-5 and push it to 2-0 in Region 2-AAA play. The game was played after the Journal Reporter press deadline.

The Pirates will host Jasper County on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. The Hurricanes are 10-4 for the season and in A D1 Region 5.

The Pirates will host Upson-Lee at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan 19 in Zebulon.

They will travel to play Jackson on Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
