Pirates roll over Spencer

The state’s number one team in AA classification made it look easy as they defeated Spencer 15-0 in three innings to 11-1 in the 2009 season. The Lamar and Henry county games were rained out due to eight inches of rain that fell last week. Those games will be played at a later date. Junior Bret Carter got the victory as he pitched a no-hitter. Carter struck out eight batters and did not issue a walk. This was his second victory on the hill this season. Offense was supplied by Kaleb Lynch with a triple and Zach Anderson and Nick Starks with doubles. Kody Adams, Seth Floyd, Justin Guy, Chad Kirksey and Colby Ralston had singles. The Pirates scored nine runs in the first inning, three in the second and three in the third to run-rule Spencer 15-0. This week the Pirates host Eagles Landing, travel to Col-umbus to play Jordan Friday and host Newnan Saturday at 5:30 p.m. to round out the week.
