Pirates sail into first in region play

By Greg Parrott The Pike County Pirates cruised into first place last Tuesday with a 6-1 victory over the Callaway Cavaliers. The long ball was the catalyst as four home runs were hit. Kaleb Lynch hit two homers while Kody Adams and Chris Long homered also. The Pirates plated the first run in the bottom of the first inning. Chad Kirksey hit an RBI single to drive in Long from second base. Long had doubled with two outs in the inning. Friday, March 26, the Pirates crushed the Manchester Blue Devils 21-1 in five innings. The Pirates are 10-3 for the season and 8-0 in region play. Yesterday the Pirates played at Lamar and will travel to Schley County today. They end their week in Columbus as they play Spencer on Friday. The Pirates JV team swept their opponents last week as they defeated Spalding in a twin bill 15-1 and 7-6. They also defeated Griffin in a twin bill 15-8 and 12-3.
