Pirates set for scrimmage game Friday

Pike County football fans can get a pre-season look at the team as the Pirates face off against Spalding County in a scrimmage game Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Griffin. ”The scrimmage is important because it gives us a chance to play in real game situations before the season starts in two weeks,” said head coach John McMillan. “We play every kid and film it to evaluate them to determine depth charts. We will also play overtime regardless of the final score. That gives us a chance to practice this with officials and the kids are prepared if it happens during the season.” The Pirates will play their first game against McIntosh on Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
