Pirates, Trojans square off in region tournament tonight

The Pike County Pirates will travel to Lamar County tonight to take on the Trojans in the first round of the Region 5AA basketball playoffs.Tipoff is at 7 p.m. at the LCCHS gym.The Pirates, coached by Mark Andrews, could use a postseason spark after struggling through a tough season. Pike is 2-23 overall and 2-14 in region play. The Trojans have also struggled. Coach Kenny Walker’s squad is 6-19 overall and 3-13 in region play.The teams split two regular season match-ups Lamar won 55-32 on January 9 while Pike won 52-48 on February 3.
