Pike County High School baseball player Tristin English and Pirates head coach Don Hanson were recently selected to Team Georgia. Team Georgia consists of the Top 20 players in Georgia as selected by high school coaches all over the state. ’Being selected for Team Georgia is an incredible honor. We’ll be representing Georgia, our community and Pike County High School in one of the finest amateur events in America,’ said coach Hanson. Team Georgia will take part in the SunBelt Classic baseball series in McAlester, Okla., June 3-12. Collegiate Baseball has described this event as the most outstanding interstate baseball series in America. ’It’s an exciting opportunity and an honor to be selected to Team Georgia, to be put into the same category with former Georgia players like Jeff Francoer, Brian McCann and Buster Posey is incredible,’ said English. Team Georgia has won six junior SunBelt championships, eight senior championships and multiple runner-up trophies between the junior and senior teams.
