Prankster’s bubble busted

The Zebulon police department busted a prankster’s bubble this week after tracking down Charles Mitchell Pendley, 19, of Griffin and arresting him for criminal trespass. He is charged with criminal tresspass for dumping soap into the newly installed fountain in downtown Zebulon. The fountain was first reported to be overflowing with bubbles around 12 noon Tuesday, Aug. 27.  Zebulon public works employees worked to remove the bubbles in the fountain and surrounding area. Sod will soon be placed around the fountain and a similar incident could damage the grass if too much soap soaks into it.  ’The Zebulon police department will not tolerate any criminal activity of this nature and action will be taken to prevent anything else like this happening,’ said ZPD Maj. Jonathan Hemphill.  Pendley was arrested and released. The brand new water fountain has been operational for less than two weeks and was installed with a grant from the Nelson Memorial Garden Fund Foundation. Zebulon public works and water department employees and numerous volunteers from the Crepe Myrtle Garden Club were instrumental in getting the project completed.
