Pride of Pike participants needed

Pike County veterans of all eras will be the Grand Marshalls for the Pride of Pike Independence Day parade July 3. The theme this year is “We Will Never Forget,” and the parade is sponsored by Pike County Emergency Services. ”There’s no fee and any civic organization, any business, any sports group, any band or anybody is welcome,” Terri Totten said. “We would love for people who have old antique cars to enter them in the parade. People can ride bicycles, golf carts or any unique vehicles.” Totten said parade entrants can throw out candy or promotional items to the crowd. Line up for the parade will start at the primary school at 2:30 p.m. and the parade will start at 4 p.m., making its way up Highway 19 to Williamson/Zebulon Road and down County Farm Road to the recreation fields. Call 770-468-8633 for more information. ”People can line the roads and watch the parade,” Totten said. “We just would like as many different participants as possible to make the parade enjoyable for everybody.”
