The Pride of Pike Independence Day celebration will kick off Saturday at 4 p.m. with veterans of all eras lead the leading parade participants as Grand Marshalls. “We Will Never Forget” is the theme this year and 173 volunteers are needed to carry a memorial placard with the names of Georgia military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.The parade will start at 4 p.m. Saturday at the primary school, proceed up Highway 19 past the courthouse to Wiliamson/Zebulon Road and go left on County Farm Road to the recreation fields. Veterans and other participants can meet at the primary school at 2:30 p.m. Saturday to take part in the parade. The Pride of Pike celebrations will continue at the recreation fields with great food, fun activities for kids and musical acts throughout the evening until the fireworks start just after dark. The cost is $5 per car and smoking is only allowed in parking lots.
