Publisher Geiger hospitalized

Walter Geiger, publisher of The Journal Reporter and, has been in acute renal failure and a patient at Macon Medical Center since Friday. Currently undergoing dialysis, his nephrologist is optimistic he will regain kidney function. Walter suffered from a staph infection after elective sinus surgery in December. He had two subsequent surgeries to treat the staph and was under the care of an infectious disease specialist who was infusing IV antibiotics at home. The massive doses of antibiotics caused renal failure. ”We have been overwhelmed by your support and ask for your continued prayers,” said his wife Laura Geiger.
