A Puma X Porsche commercial was recently filmed in Pike County as the sports and shoe company celebrates the 60th birthday of the Porsche 911 with retro and heritage sneakers fashioned after the car.
According to county manager Brandon Rogers, Caldwell Bridge Road and Concord/Hollonville Road were shut down Oct. 31 for filming. He said the film company did a good job of notifying everyone involved and hired local sheriff’s deputies to help with traffic control.
“The film company was very easy to work with,” he said. “One of the agreements was them to pay for gravel for the county to put on roads where needed. They are in the process of paying that invoice as a thank you for using our roads in the commercial.”
The unveiling and exclusive pre-sale event for the sneakers took place Sept. 5 at the Porsche pop-up store during the IAA Mobility event in Munich, Germany. In America, the shoes can only be purchased online.
“PUMA and Porsche introduce two exclusive limited-edition sneaker models: the Retro Sneaker and the Heritage Sneaker. Both pay homage to the rich legacy and dynamic present of the Porsche 911,” says Puma.com. “Limited to only 1,972 pairs – a nod to the vehicle’s birth year – each Retro Sneaker is individually numbered and distinguished by the presence of the iconic Porsche lettering on the top of the leather flap. The grill badge, a distinctive circular emblem, and the 60 Years of Porsche 911 logo further accentuates the sporty character of the sneaker, culminating in a footwear masterpiece.”
