Molena and Meansville will have several council seats up for election on the November ballot and Meansville’s mayor’s seat will also be up for election. Oct. 9 is the last date to register to vote in order to cast a ballot in the election. The general election will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at both Molena City Hall and Meansville City Hall. Three Molena council seats will be up for election on the November ballot. Candidates can qualify for the race at Molena City Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except during lunch from noon to 1 p.m. on Aug. 20 through Aug. 22. Council seats for Post 3, Post 4 and Post 5 are up for election. The qualifying fee for council members is $9.In Meansville, the mayor’s seat – currently held by Virlon Rachels – is up for election as well as the Post 1 seat – held by Betty Bradshaw – and the Post 2 and Post 5 seats which are vacant. Those who wish to run for the offices must qualify at Meansville City Hall, 41 Means Street between noon and 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28 to Thursday, Aug. 30. The qualifying fee is $35 for mayor and $24 for council members.
