A fox attacked a family pet at 562 Tanyard Road in Zebulon on March 10 and has tested positive for rabies, according to animal control director Tanya Perkins.
“The dog that was attacked was current on its rabies vaccination and will be receiving a booster shot,” she said.
Perkins encouraged local pet owners to keep their pets’ vaccinations up to date. Citizens can receive a fine of $100 plus court costs for pets that are not vaccinated against rabies.
