Register to vote by Oct. 6

Pike County residents have until Oct. 6 to register to vote in order to be able to cast ballots in the Nov. 4 election. Pike County registrar Sandi Chamblin said Pike residents may apply for an absentee ballot by Sept. 18 and they will be mailed out Sept. 19. Voters may call the office at 770-567-2003 or stop by the office to fill out the absentee ballot application. ’The governor’s race is very important and the Senate races have really heated up. It’s just so important for everybody to get out there and let their voices be heard through voting,’ she said. ‘I really hope this election has more turnout than the others this year. Hope people really get interested in finding out the facts.’ Early voting for the Nov. 4 election starts Oct. 13 and will run through Oct. 31 at the registrar’s office in the courthouse. There will be one day of early voting Saturday, Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the courthouse. Residents who are not yet registered may bring their driver’s license to the registrar’s office by Oct. 6 to get registered. ’There is also an app for registering to vote,’ said Chamblin. ‘Residents may go to their cell phone app store and download GA Votes. Voters can also register online now and it’s so simple.’
