Ross resigns from Board of Assessors

Terry Ross has resigned his position on the Pike County Board of Assessors. He distributed this letter at this mornings meeting of the board, according to Debby Austin, assistant chief appraiser. August 4, 2009 Pike County Board of Commissioners Post Office Box 377 Zebulon, Georgia 30295 Honorable Chairman Doug Mangham and Commissioners, Effective immediately, I hereby tender my resignation from the Pike County Board of Assessors. It has been an honor to serve on this board with such professional and distinguished members. Over my four years of tenure here, I have watched this board evolve into a competent and well-trained panel. Many factors were considered in making this difficult decision. At the GAAO Conference this year, I was nominated to run unopposed for the position on the GAAO Executive Board representing the Northwest District. While also serving as Chief Appraiser in Upson County, I feel I may be wearing too many hats. Spreading myself too thin could result in Pike County property owners not getting the full attention this important position deserves. As always, I have a desire to continue to be a public servant and feel my talents and abilities can be better utilized in a leadership role for this state agency. I respectfully request that you accept this resignation, tendered this fourth day of August, 2009. W. Terry Ross
