Test your knowledge of Pike and its history at the Team Scavenger Hunt sponsored by Pike Historic Preservation on Sunday, April 3 from 1 to 5 p.m. Teams of four are recommended and the cost is $10 for adult team members and $5 for children 11 and younger with proceeds going to Pike Historic Preservation. Team entry applications are available at A Novel Experience in Zebulon.
“This is Pike Historic Preservation’s third time hosting this favorite History Scavenger hunt and as they say, the third time is the charm because we are just in time for Pike’s Bicentennial Year,” said Anna Evans, PHP board member. “Come join us at the bookstore on the square as you test your team’s, family and friends’ wits, timing and talent and zoom from one corner of the county to the next, ferreting out historic facts vs. fiction by correctly answering this year’s Scavenger Questions!”
Pike Historic Preservation is a non-profit, civic organization of volunteers dedicated to the preservation of Pike County’s historic structures. After the event, participants will meet back at the bookstore to find out who the winners are and to enjoy a bowl of chili with all the toppings, including onions, cheese, hot sauce, sour cream and Fritos.
“The winning team will claim the bragging rights which include an engraved plate with your teammates’ names and the year on the official Pike County Historic Preservation Scavenger Hunt Trophy which is on permanent display at the bookstore,” said Evans.
“The scavenger hunt is a wonderful way to have fun, learn about our history, discover our old buildings and come together again,” said Chris Curry.
Tickets can be purchased at the bookstore and donations to PHP can be made by mailing a check to PHP, P.O. Box 489, Zebulon, GA, 30295. All donations are tax deductible and benefit Pike Historic Preservation whose mission is: “To preserve and protect the historic structures and sites which contribute to Pike County’s heritage and our unique sense of place!”
