The Pike County School District is partnering with Intereqest Detection Canines to deter the possession of drugs, alcohol and weapons on campuses. Bentley, a trained canine, will make random visits to the middle school, Ninth Grade Academy and high school on a regular basis. ’At Interquest we focus on prevention of problems through education, proactive deterrence and measurable results. Our purpose is to keep drugs and weapons out of the school and create a safe place for your student to learn,’ said administrator Marygrace Huber. ‘We do not focus on catching students but on helping them to make better decisions. We are proud that our program and our detection canines are so popular among students, parents, faculty and administrators across America.’Assemblies were held at the schools and students were able to watch Bentley in action as they were given an explanation of how the program will work. Bentley and Sean will visit parking lots, lockers and classrooms throughout the school year.
