Several roads in Pike County were closed due to the heavy rainfall Tuesday, Jan. 9.
The closed roads include Turner Road between Concord Road and Milner Road, River Road between Highway 362 and Gaulding Road, Daniel Road, Hunter Road and Scott Road where the pavement ends.
“These roads will be closed until at least tomorrow afternoon. There may be more out there. We will add to it as we find them,” said EMA director Jimmy Totten. “With some work we should have these back open tomorrow.”
The first road to close was Scott Road which is off of Highway 362 in Hollonville. The road has a culvert that was destroyed in storms last March. This time, the paved portion is closed due to the road being washed out but there is no additional culvert damage.
